Wooden sculptures
David Kandalkar wooden sculpures depend on tensioncurres which meet, intersect or even merge into each other. Notches may stop the flow of the curves as well, turning their course suddenly into another unforseen direction. Most of the scupltures emanate calmness and balance, seem to send ont a sheer invitation to be touched and to feel their surfaces. For David Kandalkar wood is sensual and the skin as surface og the wood is of utmost importance- as his intention is to give life back to the wood or has he said:"wood, though once a living part of a tree- is dead." Nevertheless in his sculptures its pulsating with alife force of its own.
